The Tree of Life fountain pen is inspired by the painting of the same name by Gustav Klimt. The barrel is hand-turned from precious Italian acrylic resin, engraved with the Klimt-inspired design, which is then filled with gold according to a method developed by manuscript illuminators during the Middle Ages. This technique shows off the three dimensional nature of the tree engraving.
The Tree of life is an important symbol of mythology, philosophy and theology. It signifies the connection between heaven and earth and the underworld. During his Golden Period, Klimt used oil painting techniques with gold paint, to create luxurious art pieces. This pen honors that period with both its tree design and the use of gold inlaid in the engravings.
The section and cap are of solid sterling silver, guilloché engraved with a vintage barleycorn/stripe pattern and plated with 18kt gold. The barrel is made of green mother of pearl precious Italian hard cast resin which is turned on a lathe. This pen is on the far right in the photo.
The #6 steel nib, sourced from Peter Bock in Germany, is a very smooth writer, and is available in EF, F, M, B.
